The Butterfly Effect

Name: The Butterfly Effect
Date: 1-16-12
Materials: Purple, Blue, White, and Black Acrylic paints, Taklon brushes, 8X10 stretched canvas
About: I made this painting for my friend that used to do self mutilation. To help herself stop she found a way to keep herself from doing it. Over her scars she drew a butterfly and named it after someone she loved, I dont know if its because she didn't want to hurt someone she loved, or the fact she knew that person loved her too that stopped her from doing it. But either way I was proud of her. I painted this to show her that I am proud and I am always here for her.

Metal Rose

Name: Metal Rose
Date: 1-13-12
Materials: Gas Metal, Filler Metal
About: This was a project I did in my Welding 1-2 class. I started by taking special 1/16 guage Gas metal and cutting out 2 petal circles, and two leaves. The stem is made out of a rod of Filler metal, which I attached the petals to with more Filler metal. This is  not an easy task, the stem fell of a few times. Once the petals were on I bent them into a the center, and then the outside petals. I then attached the leaves.

Human Heart: Duo

Name: Nothing Else Matters
Date: 12/28/11
Materials: Red,Blue,Purple,White and Black Acrylic paint
About: My boyfriend Shane and I did this painting together. We sculpted the shape of the heart mostly with the palm of our hands and then added the rest in with our fingertips. I only used a brush on the lettering and a few intricate lines around the heart. The writing is actually lyrics from 'Nothing Else Matters' by Mettalica. "So close, no matter how far. Coudln't be much more from the heart."

Stained Glass Panda

Top Picture: laying on a flat white canvas
Bottom Picture: resting agianst my window
Name: Stained Glass Panda
Date:
Materials: Turquiose, Black, and White Baroque glass, Copper foil, Solder
About: I did this as an assignment in my Studio in Sculpture 3-4 class. I traced ll my pieces out with a sharpie and then cut them out. Cutting them out was very hard and the front legs on the Panda snapped several times. Once all my pieces were cut I grinded them down, to give them smooth edges for foiling and so that all the pieces would fit correctly. I then foiled all edges of the glass and soldered it together. I'm very happy with the outcome and I plan on trying stained glass again.
